Mr Stephen McMahon is co-founder of the Irish Patients' Association, established in 2001 to keep the patient at the centre of the healthcare system. Mr McMahon has a wide business experience, having worked for 30 years for a multinational oil company.
He has served as a Board member of the International Alliance of Patients Organisations (IAPO) and indeed was its interim CEO in 2014. He has represented patients’ interests on various state bodies and organisations, including as Chair of the Audit Risk and Governance Committee of the Health and Social Care Professionals Council CORU and member of the Registration and Qualification Recognition Committee of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland.
He is currently an Independent Reviewer – Patient Advocate Perspective with The BMJ and a member of the Emergency Department Task Force, and has been listed in the Dynamic 100 high achievers in Irish Pharmacy News.
