Benecol
benecol.ie/

The Benecol® story began, in 1989, when professor Ingmar Wester developed plant stanol ester. This enabled the development of high quality food products with added plant stanol ester for effective cholesterol lowering. In 1995, the first Benecol® product with added plant stanol ester was launched in Finland.

Benecol® Ireland now offers a range of tasty foods with added plant stanols, including yogurt drinks, yogurts and spreads. The cholesterol lowering efficacy of plant stanols in Benecol® foods has been proven in over 80 clinical studies. Many international guidelines such as the 2019 ESC/EAS guidelines for the management of dyslipidaemias, recommend the use of plant stanols as part of healthy lifestyle changes.

Simply having 2g of plant stanols daily, with meals, can lower your cholesterol by 10% on average in 2-3 weeks*. For more information on how Benecol® products work, alone or in combination with cholesterol lowering medication, come and chat to us at our exhibitor booth or visit our website: www.benecol.ie/hcp

*Plant stanol ester has been shown to lower cholesterol. High cholesterol is a risk factor in the development of coronary heart disease. A daily intake of 1.5–2.4g plant stanols lowers cholesterol by 7–10% in 2–3 weeks.
